I also have sensitivity readers who review my work to ensure that I'm portraying these cultures accurately and respectfully. I firmly believe in responsible storytelling.

Interviewer: What advice would you give to aspiring writers who are looking to explore sensitive or complex themes in their work?

Evelyn Reed: My advice would be to do your homework, be prepared to listen and learn, and write with empathy and compassion. Don't be afraid to tackle difficult topics, but always approach them with sensitivity and respect. And remember that your voice matters. Your unique perspective can bring something new and valuable to the conversation.
